Actions for COVID-19 Prevention: Methods Used to Slow the Spreading Coronavirus

It is almost a year now since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Wuhan. The world has been battling this deadly disease hoping that a vaccine will be developed soonest to help prevent it from spreading. The pandemic has had a huge impact on the health sector.

Medical practitioners across different parts of the world have a hard time taking care of the huge number of COVID-19 patients. A substantial number of people have been put in home-based care since hospitals are already full. Therefore, every person should protect themselves as much as possible to avoid getting the disease.

Here are some of the methods being used across the world to compact the spreading coronavirus.

Lockdowns

As soon as the disease started to spread to different parts of the world, a lockdown was sought as a measure to prevent it from spreading. Lockdown was and is still being applied in different places of the world with many corona cases. The lockdown is an effective method of compacting the spread of the disease.

However, it has various disadvantages in terms of economic growth. This means that lockdowns cannot be implemented for a long period in one area. Lockdowns prevent people from moving from one area to another, yet they might important business activities to carry out. Therefore, it will not be advisable to implement lockdowns in the long run.

Sanitization

The virus is easily spread through saliva droplets. When an individual sneeze, the droplets containing the virus will rest on surfaces. Whenever individuals touch the surface and then touch their eyes, ears, mouth, or nose, they can easily transfer the disease to their bodies. The CDC recommends that people should regularly sanitize their hands. A person can sanitize their hands using alcohol-based sanitizers or by washing with soap and water. Experts say that regularly washing your hands can prevent the spread of the virus. However, this has to be combined with other prevention measures.

Wearing masks

Wearing a mask would also prevent an individual from getting the virus. It is an effective method for preventing those who have the virus from spreading it to other people. Whenever they sneeze, the saliva droplets would rest on the masks instead of spreading in the air to infect other people.

Isolation of affected individuals

Isolating COVID-19 patients has turned out to be a great way of reducing the virus’s spread. Every country has focused on developing isolation and quarantine centers where the sick would be kept to prevent them from interacting with other people. Once a person has fully recovered, they can go back to their families.

The Center for Disease Control has laid out various preventive measures that every person has to follow to reduce the rate at which the disease is spreading. People have witnessed a lot of deaths resulting from COVID 19. Such is an indication of how deadly the disease. If strict measures are not put down to counter the spread of the disease, it might reach a point where medical practitioners will no longer be in a position to provide quality medical care.

Help from medical practitioners

COVID-19 is an awakening call to the importance of medical practitioners in the world. This is why the many resources available to facilitate the training of new medical practitioners are so important. Those interested in joining the medical field to contribute to the fight against COVID-19 and the countless other diseases and health challenges people face can locate a medical assistant education program while those who have more established medical careers can locate continued education in their particular niche to help further their careers.
