Here’s a Quick Way to adopting a Pet

The increasing number of Pet ownership in Singapore has been primarily attributed to better access to veterinary care.

As of 2019, there have been approximately 824,600 registered pets, and more residents are also looking for ways to adopt one. If you are also interested in the process of pet adoption, consider taking a look at the following points.

Apply for adoption

Adopting a pet entails that you should also have to process an application. There is specific paperwork that needs to be done before you can adopt a pet.

Depending on the stipulated process and legislative requirements on your locality, you should be able to make the essential preparations and decide if you can adopt a pet.

If you have not decided to adopt a pet, you can still buy one at the local pet shop in Singapore. Some of these shops offer extensive services that include pet supplements, grooming, treats, and paw care.

Consider visiting a pet shop if you are interested in these types of services.

Interview with Shelter Counsellors

After processing your application for submission, a shelter counsellor will then schedule an appointment and will let you go through the process of visiting the potential pets for adoption.

You should be able to get a good glimpse of the lists of pets readily available for adoption as you will have to experience it first-hand.

An interview must give the shelter counsellors a glimpse of your accountability, and an impression is just as important as filling in the correct application form. Always remember to show your genuine care towards animals and give them an idea of why you want to adopt pets.

Wait for Approval

After your initial meeting with a shelter counsellor, you will be given a few days to wait for their final approval. If you pass the interview, you will be suitable to choose which dog or cat you would like to adopt.

Bear in mind that some pet shelters may require you to pay an adoption fee before you can take your pet with you.

It may take some time before others can get approval, and you must also patiently wait if the pet shelter fails to call you within a few days.

Some shelter counsellors see to it that those applying for pet adoption are fully capable of providing the needed care and affection and may have just been carefully analyzing your application.

Ask for guidance on what type of pet to choose

Most aspiring pet owners are still hesitant about what type of pet to raise. If you find yourself in a very similar position, you can confide in the shelter counsellor’s recommendations.

This will help you save some time and can even help you make the ideal preparations.

Be honest and do a follow-up call

If it takes longer before a call is returned, you can also follow up on your application. Some pet shelters would be happy to know that you are eager to adopt a new pet. Always remember to be honest in every response and give them an idea of your availability.

If you are still undecided about adopting a pet, you can still visit a pet shop in Singapore and buy one. Some people would resort to pet shops for essential pet services since most offer inclusive packages and sweet deals.
