There is no reason not to take notice of Channing Tatum, with his pale green eyes, manly physique and well-spoken manner. One of the first times he caught my eye was when I watched the movie The Vow (2012). He was breathtakingly romantic and made all the girls in the cinema swoon. Since then, he has been stealing my heart.

He has since proven to be such a versatile actor. I enjoyed Tatum’s titillating performance in Magic Mike (2012) so much that I’m now counting down the days until I can watch the sequel. Not long more to go! Magic Mike XXL opens in cinemas on July 9.

Magic Mike XXL picks up the story three years after Mike (Channing Tatum) bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game. In Magic Mike XXL, the remaining Kings of Tampa find themselves ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it in style. Opportunity comes knocking when the guys look Mike up as they travel to Myrtle Beach, for a stripper convention.

Together, they plan one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, as they make stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys find themselves clearing out their old emotional baggage before they move on to the next stage of their lives.

Magic Mike will no doubt take my breath away with his on stage performance. But in real life, Channing Tatum takes my heart. Here are the five times when Channing Tatum stole my heart.

1. When he revealed his humble beginnings

He has phenomenal moves in Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL, and all that comes from experience. Did you know that Channing used to be an exotic dancer before starting out with his Hollywood career? In 1999, when he was just 18, he was a dancer with a Chippendales-style revue called Male Encounter, in Florida. His stage name was Chan Crawford. Despite the possible stigma that might come with his past, Channing is proud of his humble beginnings. In fact, the character Magic Mike is based on his past experience as a male stripper.

2. When he makes me laugh

He has entertained me thoroughly with his comedic roles on 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street and Magic Mike. Any talented actor with a good script can be funny, right? Well, Channing is not just an insanely good looking and talented actor… but he also has a great sense of humour in real life. Here’s a recent clip of him on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Falon, in a segment called Kid Theatre. They enact three scripts written by kids, titled Magic Mike. And of course, these kids have never actually seen the movie, so it’s just based on their interpretation of the title. It is hilarious.

3. When he shows his loyal side

He is one of the most sought after men in Hollywood today and has women falling at his feet. However, Channing is a one-woman type of man. Whenever he’s on talkshows, I hear him talk fondly of his wife and child. And he always beams with pride to have his wife walk down the red carpet with him at his movie premieres. I especially love that Channing and his wife have matching tattoos that say “side by side” in Balinese. She has it inscribed on her foot while he has it on the side of his ribcage.

4. When he became a father

Everly Tatum was born on 31st may, 2013 and Channing admits to crying at her birth. From the time Everly was born, Channing has been a hands-on kind of dad. We often see him having a good time with his family on outings. When tough men have an affinity for children, and show their soft, nurturing side, it makes them very attractive. My heart melts whenever I see pictures of him with his daughter (of which there are many!).

5. When he does his part for charity

Despite being busy with his thriving acting career, Channing is no stranger to charity work. He supports charitable causes like the Rainforest Foundation. One of his bigger contributions was in 2012 when he and his wife Jenna Dewan (who also has a dance background) performed a steamy routine at the Revlon Concert For The Rainforest. This charity concert, held at New York City’s Carnegie Hall, raised millions for the preservation of the Rainforest and its indigenous people.
