Ajin Demi-Human has seen astronomical popularity ever since it was published. It’s been adapted into an anime series, a trilogy of anime films, an OVA, and now even a live-action series! You can even find the anime series on Netflix.

The series revolves around the Ajin, superhumans who will come back to life (with all injuries healed) after being killed. Even if there is only a small fragment of their flesh left, they can completely regenerate into an unharmed human. They also possess the ability to create black ghosts that can fight with or for them – black ghosts that nobody but the Ajin can see.

What’s pretty amazing is that many of the actors who play Ajin in the film have also played other superheroes on screen! Check out the other superheroes that the Ajin actors have played. We bet you didn’t recognise them in their earlier roles, when they were less famous!

1. Takeru Satoh

Takeru Satoh plays Kei Nagai, the protagonist of Ajin: Demi-Human. He also took on the role of Kenshin Himura, the deadly swordsman of the Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) film series.

In both roles, he takes on the role of the unwilling hero who has been thrust into circumstances beyond his control. He’s also arguably the most powerful character in each respective series, since he can summon multiple black ghosts as Kei the Ajin; and fights using the Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū style as Kenshin.

2. Go Ayano
Sato in Ajin: Demi-Human
Nyx Ulric in Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV

Sato (Go Ayano) is the devious villain of Ajin: Demi-Human, and boasts military training in addition to his Ajin powers. Go Ayano also provided the voice of Nyx Ulric in the Japanese version of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, one of the Kingsguard (who fight using magical short-range teleportation techniques).

In both roles, he’s a trained soldier. Looks like Go Ayano is the guy to go to for military roles!

3. Yu Shirota
Tanaka in Ajin: Demi-Human
Tuxedo Mask in Pretty Soldier Sailormoon

Tanaka is a supporting character in Ajin: Demi-Human who assists Sato in his evil plans.

What you might not have known is that he played Tuxedo Mask, Sailor Moon’s love interest and the dude-in-distress of the series, in the Sailormoon musicals. He was the seventh actor to do so, and has his trademark frown in either role.

4. Yudai Chiba
Okuyama in Ajin: Demi-Human
Gosei Red/Alata in Tensou Sentai Goseiger

If you’re a Power Rangers fan, then you’ll know that it’s somewhat of an adaptation of the Japanese Super Sentai, with the same fight scenes used across both series. However, they use different sets of actors to play the human characters in the series (for obvious reasons).

Yudai Chiba plays the softspoken Okuyama and he also played Gosei Red in Tensou Sentai Goseiger, which was adapted into Power Rangers Megaforce for Western screens.

Yup. He was giving resounding battle cries as a Power Ranger before becoming a quiet Ajin.

5. Yuki Yamada
Takahashi in Ajin: Demi-Human
Gokai Blue in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger

And finally, Takahashi the slightly unhinged Ajin (played by Yuki Yamada) was also the Blue Ranger for Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger/Power Rangers Super Megaforce. His two roles are as different as night and day, since his Super Sentai character, Joe Gibken, is a taciturn individual in the series.

But they both have wacky hair.
