Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse sees a group of high school sophomores (they would be Sec 4s in Singapore) escaping a zombie apocalypse. Some Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) would obviously be better than others in helping you weather the zombie apocalypse, which underscores the point that your choice of CCA is very important in life.

But with so many CCAs to choose from, which would give you the best possible chance at escaping murderous zombies who want to eat your brains? The Popping Post is here to help you with a comprehensive guide on the best CCAs to join if you want to survive a zombie outbreak in Singapore. Don’t say we didn’t try to help when the zombies attack!

This one’s a no-brainer. If you’re a runner, you’ll be able to run away from zombies. Of course, being a long distance runner would be much more effective than being a sprinter, since zombies are known to have inexhaustible stamina as they lumber towards you. If you can do the steeple chase, even better! Zombies aren’t known for being able to jump and climb over things.

Zombies, like many pets, are distracted by pictures of their own kind. So what you can do is to find a zombie film (like Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) and use a projector to screen the movie in the opposite direction that you’re running. The zombies will be too busy staring at the other zombies on screen to chase after you. Remember, zombies eat brains because they don’t have any!

3. Rugby

You’ll need a constant supply of rugby balls for this, and if you do then you’ll be the number one offensive against zombies. Start chucking rugby balls at zombies to stop their advance! Remember to aim for the base of the spine and not the head. Zombies can still come after you without their heads, but they can’t move if you immobilise their legs. Bonus points if you can lob zombie heads as well (just don’t get bitten, those heads are usually still capable of chomping away).

Zombie bites or scratches are traditionally fatal, with the victim turning into a gibbering undead after that. But whilst running from zombies, you’re bound to get scrapes, cuts, sprains and numerous other injuries that usually accompany desperate fleeing. With your knowledge of first aid, you’ll be bandaging up your friends and ensuring they get to run another day. If you need to cull some of your stragglers, though, you can also use your knowledge of first aid to worsen their injuries, while giving the impression they’re being treated.

After all, one of the best ways to distract zombies is to leave bait for them…

Act like a zombie! You’ll need to smear yourself with some of that zombie stank, but at least you’ll be alive. It’s not easy to shuffle like a zombie, even if everyday you’re shuffling, so some of that method acting will come in handy. Also, zombies don’t eat real food, so while they’re feasting on some unfortunate soul, you can dart into those abandoned 7-11s and score some snacks.

Your flexibility and agility will help you dodge the attacks of the slow shambling corpses, and having better-than-average upper body strength will definitely help you scale tall obstacles that will stymie your pursuers! Just don’t forget that zombies can climb on other zombies to scale great heights though. You might be able to somersault, but keep that in check – running is much more effective and a quicker way to escape.

And of course, being a Scout will ensure that no zombie attack comes as a surprise! The Scout’s motto is “Be prepared” so you’ll always have a steady supply of ammunition, supplies and a power bank for your mobile phone to help you survive the apocalypse. After all, they even have a guide to helping you survive the zombie apocalypse!
