Just to clarify – we’re talking about an intensive police search for a criminal or witness here, and not a male pageant. Zootopia sees rabbit detective Judy Hopps mounting a manhunt for several missing animals, and she takes along foxy Nick Wilde for assistance. But hey, she’s in Zootopia! She can call on the assistance of any animal.

So in the spirit of Chinese new Year, here are 5 Chinese Zodiac animals that would have been much more useful to Judy Hopps in looking for her missing animals. Wait, would that make it an animalhunt instead of a manhunt?

1. Dog

Pluto really should have been there to help Judy Hopps out! But (spoiler alert!) Pluto doesn’t appear in the film, which is really a pity. A dog would have been really helpful in a manhunt because they’ve got a good sense of smell, and they’d be able to track down the target in no time! And then they’re really loyal too, so even if they were to go undercover a la Infernal Affairs, you know that they’ll always be on your side.

2. Monkey

Monkeys are agile creatures – try walking past MacRitchie Reservoir with bread in your hand, and see if a stray monkey doesn’t snatch it away from you. Their flexibility, and the fact that they have real hands with actual fingers means that they’ll be able to manipulate any strange objects they come across. I’m sure Abu wouldn’t mind taking a break from Aladdin to help out Judy Hopps right?

3. Tiger

Now, Tigger might not be a fierce, intimidating tiger, but the fact remains that he is still a tiger – one of the most powerful animals on the planet. Judy Hopps could certainly use that sort of brute force on her side! Plus, Tigger is pretty enthusiastic and bouncy. He could come over from The Tigger Movie and bounce back before you even noticed he was gone!

4. Snake

All the animals listed earlier have been treading the straight and narrow. But sometimes, you need to head to the less savoury parts of town. That’s where a snake comes in. These deceptive, slithering creatures can blend into the shadier parts of town, and won’t stick out like a sore thumb. Perhaps Kaa the Snake could cross over from The Jungle Book and help Judy Hopps out a bit?

5. Dragon

And finally, a dragon would trump any other animal in Judy Hopp’s team. Dragons are just awesome. Like they say, always be yourself, unless you can be a unicorn dragon. Elliott could certainly take some time off from Pete’s Dragon to assist in Judy Hopp’s investigation, don’t you think?

So what exactly do Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde investigate in Zootopia, and what animal friends do they have to help them? Well, you’ll just have to catch Zootopia for yourself to find out!
