He was superb as the villain with a diabolical plan for the massive culling of the human race in Kingsman: The Secret Service but I prefer Samuel L. Jackson, on the other side of the fence.

In his latest movie, Big Game, which opens in cinemas on Thursday (May 7), he plays the role of the President of the United States who is stranded in the wilderness of Finland after terrorists shoot down Air Force One.

A 13-year old boy called Oskari (Onni Tommila) is sent out into the Finnish wilderness to complete a test to prove his manhood. He has only 24 hours and only armed with a bow and arrow. While he is out in the rugged countryside, he witnesses a spectacular crash and discovers an Air Force One escape pod which contains the President of the United States (Samuel L. Jackson). With the terrorists closing in to capture their own “Big Game” prize, the unlikely duo team up to escape their hunters. As anxious Pentagon officials observe the action via satellite feed, it is up to the President and his new sidekick to prove themselves and survive the most extraordinary 24 hours of their lives.

I think Samuel L. Jackson might even take over the reigns from Harrison Ford for being the most kickass president in movie history. Heck, Sammy would make a kickass president in real life too. Here are 10 reasons why.

1. He was never popular as a kid and had a stutter but he never let that hold him back. He went on to graduate from college (alongside Spike Lee!) and have a successful career in showbiz. That takes an incredible amount of ambition.
2. He will not take sh*t on Twitter. If you are dumb enough to not realise that Samuel L Jackson knows what a discus is but chooses to mock the sport calling it a heavy frisbee, then he will tell you off.

3. He is a hard worker, making about 4 movies a year. This makes him one of the most prolific African American actors in Hollywood today.

4. He has earned more than any other Hollywood actor. According to the Guinness Book Of World Records, he has earned $7.42 billion in 68 films. As much as I hate to admit it, money does have an intrinsic link to success and power. He has accumulated a net worth higher than most US presidents, JFK included.

5. Light sabers only come in two colors: red for the Sith and green for the Jedi, but George Lucas gave in to his request for a purple light saber and even inscribed the letters BMF (“Bad Motherf*cker”) on the hilt. He managed make his mark in a long standing Star Wars empire. Can you imagine his power of persuasion?!

6. He has been on the other side. In the 1990s he battled a drug addiction. He completed rehab and went straight back to work. He has been drug free and sober ever since. A man who has struggled, and managed to overcome such adversity would make a great leader.

7. In 1991, his performance in Jungle Fever was so good, the Cannes Film Festival created the category for Best Supporting Actor just so they could give him an award. His dedication to his craft is commendable and people see the value he brings to a film. A leader should always do this, even if they are only in a supporting role.

8. He has good family values. He has been married since 1980 and has a grown up daughter. He maintained a tight knit family despite his fame. It is important for a powerful leader to remain grounded.

9. He fought for equal rights. In 1969, he and a student group held members of Morehouse College’s Board of Trustees hostage to protest the school’s governance. The college eventually changed its policy.

10. He supports a whole list of charities. He ran a charity competition on Reddit in which users submitted 300-word monologues for the actor to read out. He chose his favorite two. It raised over $135,000 for the Alzheimer’s foundation.

The Popping Post is giving out 10 Big Game novels. The movie is adapted from Dan Smith’s best-selling novel about 13-year-old Oskari’s 24h adventure with the President of the United States.
